WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

This image was taken by the Hubble Telescope of a giant cross shape structure at the core of the Whirlpool Galaxy in deep space.

Romans 1:20-21 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

What is Salvation?

I am not a Pastor or a theologian, and I am not affiliated with any denomination or church. I am a Biblical Christian, and a disciple of Jesus. I have learned from personal experience and most importantly, from the Word of God, many things about salvation through Jesus Christ. This article reflects my understanding that faith in Jesus Christ alone to save us, IS the core message of "salvation" in the Holy Bible.

I urge you to ask God to forgive you of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior. The fulfillment of Bible Prophecy is unfolding at an alarming rate! Time is running out!

Do You Ever Think About Your Death?

Most people rarely think about what happens when they die. Generally, people ignore the subject of death all together. I know I did. But I believe we should all confront this reality head on because we ALL WILL DIE one day, that is a 100% certainty. Consider all of the natural disasters increasing worldwide, you never know when one is going to strike your town. In fact, you could die of a heart attack or stroke or get hit by a car crossing the street on any given day!

If physical death is certain, shouldn't we be questioning what happens after death? Yes we should and here is why; we are eternal beings and our spirit belongs to God. He made us, and upon physical death we will either go to be with our Creator because we believed and trusted in Him, or because of rejection of Him we will be taken away from Him. The Bible is clear to warn that those souls who reject God are destined for a place called Hell, or Hades, and it is a real place of eternal judgment, lamentation and separation from God. If heaven is real and eternal, then hell has to be real and eternal also. Let me be clear that God does not send anyone to hell! We send ourselves there because of rejecting His Son, and our Savior, Jesus Christ!

If everyone went to Heaven then that would completely contradict the reality of justice. The Bible says that God exercises loving-kindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth. (Jer 9:24.)

God's Justice

God’s justice has a basis for measurement and that is His commandments as found in the Bible. These commandments have for the most part come to represent the moral laws that govern many societies. This is not a coincidence that our justice system mirrors what God has established. If we break the law by murdering someone, justice has to be served. Likewise, if we break God’s commandments, then how can a just and Holy God allow a person who rejected Him and His laws to enter into HIS Kingdom of Heaven to have eternal fellowship with Him?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The truth is that every single human being is an unholy sinner. No matter how “good” we think we are, the fact is we are still not good enough, in and of ourselves, for a God that is Holy and righteous beyond our comprehension. The earth and mankind are a fallen creation and that subject alone is expansive and I will not expand on it in this article. But know this, there are mysteries and revelation knowledge that can only be obtained through a relationship with our Almighty Creator, and He said that if we draw close to Him, He will reveal those things to us. (Jer 33:3)

Our Death Penalty Has Been Paid by Christ!

The awesome news for fallen mankind is that God, through His mercy and grace, made a way for each of us to overcome our sins and sin nature by having the penalty paid for us by the death on the cross and the resurrection to life of Jesus Christ. Therefore if we believe and trust in this, we are then “justified” in God's sight. That's right, the penalty for our sin is paid by Jesus, if we believe it by faith! This act was a gift from God and the Bible says that we are "saved by grace through faith." (Eph 2:8) And this gift, combined with our faith in Jesus Christ alone to save us, IS the core message of "salvation" in the Holy Bible. The Bible also says this about salvation:

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

It is a very amazing thing that happened on the cross. Our sin penalty was paid by the crucifixion and death of a “spotless lamb”, Jesus Christ (Yeshua in Hebrew.) Our belief in the bodily resurrection to life of Jesus and trusting that our sin penalty is paid by the work of the cross, qualifies us to receive eternal life with God in heaven. I believe that the work of the cross was a deeply loving and spiritual act and we will not truly understand the depth of it until we die and meet God, face to face, in all His glory.

Life is in the Blood

The Bible says that "Life is in the blood." (Lev 17:11) Just as our blood gives our physical body “life”, the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross gives our spirit body eternal life in Heaven when we believe and trust that Jesus is our Savior. And that is the key, we must believe it by faith. The Bible calls this step of believing by faith, "justification." (Romans 3:22-26.)

Repentance

When we believe and trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, it is then very important to repent, or turn away from all sin. The Bible says we are made into a new creation by God’s Holy Spirit. (2 Cor 5:17) That is what the term “born again” really means. (I Peter 1:19-25) Jesus also tells us to enter through the strait gate, or the narrow way. (Mat 7:13-14.) If you love Him, obey His commandments! (John 14:15-21)

Relationship with God

The Bible says that if we call on God, Jesus will manifest Himself to us. I know this is true because I cried out to Him and He answered me! If you seek God out and ask Him for the truth with a sincere heart, He will answer you. When He does reveal Himself, you will be changed forever!

In other words, Jesus reveals Himself to each of us personally so that we know the “person” Jesus Christ and are able to grow in an intimate relationship with God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. True Christianity is about RELATIONSHIP, not Religion!

Religion and church denominations are mans creation. So beware, because very often Satan uses these to pervert the truth. Please don't make the mistake I did of judging God based on religion and religious people, because that is exactly what Satan wants you to do and therefore reject the true. What is TRUE? The scriptures reveal the truth and that is why you must get a Bible and read it. This is the primary way to learn about God, His ways, His nature and character and what He requires of His people.

Never Deny that Jesus is the Christ!

True believers will never deny Jesus Christ. Why do you think so many followers of Jesus are killed for their faith? Last year there were about 180,000 Christians murdered worldwide because Satan wants to make sure true believers never get their testimony out to the unsaved world.

And why do you think that you can’t even say the name “Jesus Christ” in public without people going ballistic? Because Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and Satan hates Jesus and he hates you and he wants to make sure that you never get to know Jesus Christ and enter into the Kingdom of Heaven at your death. And the forces of darkness will use every lie and deception possible to make sure you never make it there!

Once you have accepted Jesus and received a personal revelation of Christ, you must never deny Him. There is no turning back. Your life will be changed forever in ways that you could never have imagined. The life of a follower of Jesus Christ is not boring!

Get Right with God Before it is too Late!

I encourage every non-believer to get this issue resolved once and for all. Time is very, very short and the prophecies of the Bible are unfolding before our very eyes. But furthermore, you don't know when your death will be. Why waste the rest of your life living a lie when you can know the truth just by asking God to show you? You can then live the truth and be set free from the curse of sin and death. The choice is yours.

God the Father is drawing people to His son Jesus by creating circumstances and situations that will hopefully open eyes and soften hearts to seek Him. This is the love and mercy of God to save us from our rebellion and rejection of Him; otherwise we would never choose Him.

The relationship we have with the one true God of Heaven, the Great "I AM", is a love relationship. We must choose Him. He does not force us to do so. He did not create robots, it is OUR choice. Please!! Choose this day whom you will serve! Choose Jesus Christ! He is waiting for you!

John 14:21 Those who obey my commandments are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them, and I will love them. And I will reveal myself to each one of them."

Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Salvation Prayer:

Please note that the Bible does not mention a prayer to receive salvation, but I put this here for those who may need guidance in what to say to the Lord. Get alone somewhere and pray to the Lord with a sincere heart. Be sure to get a Bible and start reading it!

Dear Father God,
I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins and I am sorry for the sinful life I have lived. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
