Wide is the Gate: The Emerging New Christianity

Dears Saints,

Below are video introductions for Part 1 & 2 of a DVD series by Caryl Matrisciana called "Wide is the Gate: The Emerging New Christianity." The DVD can be purchased from the link below. These intros give a bleak picture of the emergent apostasy that seems to be deepening and worsening in the mainline churches. There are many Pastors who are teaching this stuff. These men should know better, so therefore the only conclusion that I draw is that they are wolves in sheep's clothing.

Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

In Christ, Sarah

  1. Very sobering, thank you Sarah.
My prayer: Dear Jesus please come soon. In the meantime, we pray the Holy Spirit through God's great grace help us to strive to enter in at the strait gate.
Sarah, these days I'm really learning how far off mark I was about 5 years ago before the Lord led me to nothing. (lost my house, possessions etc). The climax before I came to nothing was a front row seat and being swept up with the Azusa Street Revival in April 2006 for the Centennial celebration in Los Angeles California. It was 3 days of what I had thought at the time as "total immersion in the Holy Spirit". I listened to speakers like Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn. Besides Benny Hinn who freaked me out by the way he started yelling at people and some of the scary things he said and this other guy who was some sort of Master of Ceremonies (MC) who kept saying people were being healed during the service and getting out of their wheel chairs, although I never saw them, I was certain at the time that God wanted the saints to do as this one speaker said (the black evangelist and author from the Virgin Islands, I can't remember his name...), "Go home Christians and unpack your bags. Stop waiting on Jesus to come and get to work." He said this many times. I was convinced at the time that the saints are all Kingdom Builders, here and now... The saints had to get off their behinds, stop waiting for Jesus and get to work. But after watching this video and by PERSONAL OBSERVATION and living by faith over the past 5 years, I'm convinced as they said in the video, "Christ brings in His kingdom and we are partakers of it. We don't have to build the Kingdom. God does. Our job is to strive to enter in at the strait gate. Amen.

  2. Wow Randy what a testimony! Thank you for sharing that it the Saints.
These leaders and Pastors in the church should know better because they know what the Word of God says. Nowhere does it say we build the kingdom before Jesus returns. To the contrary the words says that things wax worse and worse and that the people WILL NOT ENDURE SOUND DOCTRINE. (Also read 2 Tim 3 and 4.) That word "endure" also means to be patient. We must be patient with sound doctrine. Even if it does make sense to us, we must not lean on our own understanding but in all our ways trust God.
Paul told us to examine ourselves to make sure we are in the faith. I have to examine myself to make sure I am and I have only been walking with the Lord for not even 4 years. I believe this is why humility and fear of the Lord is something we must pray for continually. Fear of the Lord is a great motivator to stay on the narrow way. If Jesus said that not many people find that narrow gate, then we better believe He means it.

  4. Thanks, Sarah and Randy.

Years ago (1991), I listened to some tapes by Kenneth Copeland. Then the Lord told me to get rid of them. The Lord told me stick with the Scriptures and the Holy Ghost. The Copeland brand of name-it-and-claim-it, positive confession teaching I really don't like at all. I would also call it Hyper Space Faith. Some people thing that if they just believe and speak the right words then they will get a brand new house or something.

Let's go back to faithful Abraham. Abraham didn't just psyche himself up and speak positive words so that Sarah would be able to conceive Isaac. NO. The Lord TOLD Abraham that he would have a son. And as usual God got the glory because the Lord waited until Abraham was as good as dead before the Lord REVIVED Abraham so that Sarah could conceive. "Abraham believed God and it was imputed to him as righteousness."

This is why I tell people they need to get to know the Lord and OBEY Him. It isn't how we figure the Scriptures out in our heads (idolatry). The Holy Ghost is who teaches us the Scriptures. The narrow path is OBEDIENCE to the Lord.

Some people think that someone is anointed because they have such a bubbly personality.

Speaking of Azusa Street. "Azusa Street" by Frank Bartleman is a great book; very anointed.

  5. Hey, that was a really helpful post, Tim Shey.

How did you hear the voice of God when he told you to get rid of those tapes?

  6. ThatGuy: That is a very good question and people ask it all the time.

The Lord will speak to your spirit, through circumstances and through dreams. I got this tape series by Kenneth Copeland and listened to all of it, but things began to come against me through daily circumstances (Jesus Christ is Lord over my circumstances). I began to reflect on anything that I was doing wrong, and soon I knew that I was supposed to get rid of the Copeland tapes.

I had read a few books by Kenneth Hagin that I liked and I listened to some of his teaching tapes. I gleaned much more gold from Hagin than from Copeland. Hagin greatly influenced Copeland, but they both were too much into material wealth.

I tell people that I am the wealthiest man on the planet (because of my relationship with the Lord) and I don't have a bank account. The Lord has definitely raised up certain people who have lots of money, but they are responsible for this money and they use it wisely. Not everybody is supposed to have a lot of money.

  7. Can I just say "me too". sucked in by Copeland, Hagan, Price etc etc. Then after I was led by the Lord, I studied the Scriptures for myself. Talk about a wake-up call. Good comments everyone and good post Sarah. I have been listening to some of Caryls podcast interviews. Good stuff!

  8. Saints I just want to issue a little warning of discernment because the ones who expose the deception may tend to swing too far in the other direction and claim that manifestations and certain practices are not for our times.

    Caryl does say this in her statement of faith;

"8. We believe that the Holy Spirit baptizes all true believers into the one true Church, His Body; that He indwells them eternally, bestows spiritual gifts upon them, and empowers them for service and holy living."

I am not totally educated about the Azuza Street revival, but I believe it was at least partially from God. But as with all moves of God, Satan comes in and counterfeits it and perverts it. The Azusa Street Revival is commonly regarded as the beginning of the modern-day Pentecostal movement. Caryl may have a negative view of Azuza Street, the video is not clear.

There is also a teaching by Brannon House called the "Religious Trojan Horse." Caryl has his site linked on hers. He states all kinds of UnBiblical ideas such as we are not to rebuke Satan (Luke 10:19 says otherwise.) Brannon also says that God does not speak to his people today (John 10:27 says otherwise.)
Brannon says that the office of the Apostle and Prophet has ceased. (Eph 4:11, 1 Cor 12:28-29 says otherwise.)

Brannon says that there should no longer be the laying on of hands (James 5:14 says otherwise & 1Tim 5:22 just says not lay hands suddenly.)

    Brannon House videos here:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aworldviewweekend.com+trojan%20horse

The scriptures are for us today and are for the instruction of the church body!

Luk 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

So as you read above about Brannon House, the ones who are pushing back against deception have issues of their own as well, and this is why we must let the Holy Spirit and the Word be our teacher.

  9. Peace Sarah,
I pray your well. Those videos were heart breaking. There are other "Christians" out there who say you don't have to read your bible. This is very upsetting. However, we were warned about this in the word. I pray we will overcome. LORD have mercy on us all. We MUST keep the commands of God. Please read my blog.
    In HIM with love,
    Cassie

  10. Amen Sarah, I'm so glad you brought this up sister. For the past 2 days, before and after work and throughout the day, I've been hurting and in prayer. I know that the pendulum can and does often swing back so far that soon the saints might become inactive and not participate at all in God's work here on earth. i.e. become fearful and dead.. i.e. faith without works is dead.. The saints have to let our light shine and we are the salt of the earth. And POW! there's your post Sarah, expressing EXACTLY what I was thinking about and praying about. Thank you for your obedience and ever searching and probing for the truth and sharing and blessing the saints. God bless.
    Great points everybody.

  14. I saw Joel Osteen preach one time back in 1999. That was the last time I saw Joel Osteen preach.

Osteen wrote a book titled "Your Best Life Now". He should meditate on the Scripture "Those who live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

If you would not speak these words you are about to post to the Lord Jesus Christ, then maybe you should not post them. Otherwise I appreciate your comments and fellowship on this blog. Thanks! Sarah
